Mt Everest has a glamour all of its own. It’s THE big one, one for the CV, one to tell the grandkids about, one to bag for Deafblind Scotland and the hundreds of deafblind people across the country who’ll benefit from your achievement. So, what are you waiting for? It’s time to sign up for the adventure of a lifetime…
Nepal is home to the mighty Himalayas, the most breathtaking mountain range in the world, with Mt Everest (8,848m) the pinnacle. The route takes you via the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar through beautiful valleys, dense forests and across glacial rivers before reaching the renowned viewpoint of Kalapatar (5,647m), on the approach to Everest Base Camp (5,357m), and the sight of the highest mountain on the planet. Meeting the friendly villagers and experiencing their fascinating culture whilst trekking through this landlocked gem of a nation is one of its greatest pleasures. Before setting off on the trek, you’ll also have time to explore the colourful temples and bazaars of the capital Kathmandu.
Participants must pay an initial deposit of £449 and then raise a minimum sponsorship of £3250 but don’t stress out about raising the funds; once you get started you’ll realise it’s quite straightforward given you are doing something amazing and we’ll be on hand to give you examples and ideas of how to do it in an enjoyable way.
You should have a good level of fitness to complete this trek, which is challenging mainly due of the high altitude. The trip is designed so that there is plenty time to acclimatise to the altitude but you may still feel effects such as headaches and shortness of breath when on the move.
Included in the price: all flights, accommodation, meals whilst in hotels, bus transfers, sherpa guides, porters, cook, breakfast and lunch whilst trekking. Does not include insurance, three meals per itinerary, entry visa or airport tax. It is also customary to tip local guides and porters and the end of the trek.
