Deafblind Scotland has always aimed for lofty heights in it’s quest to support deafblind people, and here’s your chance to do the same by conquering Mt Kilimanjaro, at 5,895m the highest mountain in Africa and the world’s highest freestanding mountain; are you up for the challenge of a lifetime?
Now is a particularly good time to tackle Mt Kilimanjaro as her famous, once-permanent glacier-cap is thawing more each year and there may come a time in the future when the summit is entirely snow-free; act now before it’s too late! During the trek, you’ll observe the natural beauty of the Tanzanian landscape and be led through a blend of diverse terrains from jungle to volcanic craters before finally ascending to Stella Point crater rim (5750m) for a glorious sunrise vista over the African savannah.
People from all walks of life take part in this challenge but it's vital that you train beforehand so that you get the most out of the trek. A suggested training plan is available and trek staff can also provide training tips, as required.
Participants must pay an initial deposit of £499 and then raise a minimum sponsorship of £3000 but don’t stress out about raising the funds; once you get started you’ll realise it’s quite straightforward given you are doing something amazing and we’ll be on hand to give you examples and ideas of how to do it in an enjoyable way.
Included in the price: flights and all interval travel, accommodation, camping equipment, all food while camping and breakfast are included when in hotels, water, refreshments, guides, a doctor and medical support.
