Marathon Effort to Finish the Race

The runners before the race. The runners after the race with their medals.

The greatest obstacle facing Edinburgh Marathon runners was the scorching heat but despite the conditions, Deafblind Scotland’s participants managed to finish the race. They were among a record 11,400 competitors taking part and we are very grateful to them for completing the challenge for the charity.

There were two Hairy Haggis relay teams running our behalf. The first featured Thomas Hywel, Shena Milroy, Drena O’Malley, John Owens and Sandra Stuart. John Gill and his four brothers were in the other. Running the full distance were Stephen Joyce, Peter Lavelle, Iain Stewart, Ros Haigh, John Gill and Nigel Roberts.

Thank you to all, who did exceptionally well. The money raised will help Deafblind Scotland continue to make a difference to the lives of deafblind people.
