Deafblind Scotland member, Clark Steven, is becoming something of a celebrity having appeared in several national and local newspapers (Sunday Mail, Daily Mail, The Herald, East Kilbride Mail) and on Celtic TV. The media have been fascinated by the concept of a fully deafblind man being able to enjoy a football match.
Clark has Usher Syndrome, which means he was born deaf and gradually lost all of his sight. Although he’s been a huge Celtic fan since he was a boy, he stopped going to games for a time when he could no longer see them.
However, now the action is played out on his hand using tactile communication, Clark rarely misses a match. The highlight of his time as a supporter was when he went to the UEFA cup final in Seville in 2003.
Recently Clark was given a signed Celtic football which he will undoubtedly treasure.
